Jean-François GAGNON Coaticook

Serge Bourassa-Lacombe, a human being rather singular, undertakes today a periplus which will bring him to cross 4 000 km by bicycle during the current following weeks. The man who lawsuying the Centre universitaire de santé de l'Estrie in front of the tribunal, for bad treatments, aim to amass funds, during his periplus.  Those wile help him to continue his struggle against the Hospital Center and elsewhere to help the cause odd the mental illness people.  «I will stop every where to distribute my business cards and my tracts, during my trip», he emphasize.

A long «stroll»

The man of around forty years old start his long tour at Lennoxville.  From their, he will rally Cooper, in Maine, where it's waiting, at some friends, his mount on two wheels. Then on in engine, he will go towards the Maritimes provinces, where he intend specially to stop in  the town of Fredericton, St-John, Moncton, Charlottetown and others… When he'll be in New Foundland, he will cross, by ferry boat, until the North Coast. Afterwards, he will arrive at Quebec, where he will go to the Parliament, to deposit certain documents.  After what he will roll until Coaticook, none without to take a leap to Montreal.

In the hands of the destiny

A little to prove that the man is all in fact singular, mention that he doesn't know really where he will sleep overnight each night, all a long his adventure.  It seem that he will relay to the destiny and to the good fortune. «I will have with me a tent and will be able to establish me anywhere»,  he maintain with all simplicity. To drag his baggage, Bourassa-Lacombe, will pull a light carrier made to go on the back of a bicycle. «With everything that I will having with me, I will keep normally a average speed of 10 kilometres per hour». The limit, it's that in spite of this average speed enough low and his desire to stop everywhere, the man think to have the capacity to realize his distance in 40 days.   It will be necessary therefore to pedal long hours each day.  Nevertheless, this seem to be the last of his cares. Serge Bourassa-Lacombe won't be at his first long «excursion» by bicycle.  In 1995-96, he had been ramble like this, on his bicycle, a cross the Quebec and, the United-States.  In almost 400 days, he had made around 10 000 kilometres. At that time, his periplus had him, among others, lead in until Florida and in the region of Atlanta.  He was passing across moreover in this last mentioned at the moment of where the Olympic Games was in full swing, during the summer 1996.
